Mary Douthwaite BA BFA
After decades of painting and studying art, in 2001 Mary Douthwaite completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts at the University of Victoria, BC.
Born in London, U.K., Mary took art courses in the 1960's both at the University of London, UK, and at the University of Santa Clara, California, USA. In 1989, after years of travel and painting, Mary returned to Canada with an extensive art portfolio. This portfolio gained her acceptance into the Visual Arts department at the University of Victoria. There, with new mediums, Mary enlarged on her love of drawing and watercolour.
Douthwaite's paintings combine traditional watercolour techniques with contemporary ideas and methods; both the framing and the image are created with acrylic pigments on canvas.
Academic art studies added new vision to a lifetime of painting and drawing.
