Sharon Stone
Born in Nova Scotia as a member of a military family, Sharon moved frequently. She continued this pattern in her adult life, living on three Canadian coasts and in seven provinces/territories. Her love of travel has taken her to over half the globe as well as on adventures such as crossing the South Atlantic Ocean as one of a crew of four on a 52 foot sailboat.
Until recently, Sharon was active in the health care industry, having obtained a Master's of Science degree in 1990.
Sharon has lately become involved in the art world, painting colourful landscapes and waterscapes using acrylics. Water, with its varying movement, temperature and reflective qualities, is a predominant theme in her paintings.
Sharon has displayed her work at venues on Vancouver Island, in Vancouver, in Kamloops, in Toronto, and at the Paula White Diamond Gallery in Ontario, and has won Federation of Canadian Artist Awards of Excellence for her paintings “Heading Northwest II” and “Frozen Face III”. Her paintings are currently on display at Gallery 223 in Nanaimo, the Victoria International Airport, and the Victoria Convention Centre in British Columbia.
Painters in Ontario and British Columbia have contributed to her art education.
"Colour is important to me. My love of colour started at an early age, when my mother, a talented seamstress, made dresses and coats for myself and my sister. I remember very clearly the colours of my favorites – delicious lavenders, blues, pinks and yellows. Another equally strong influence on my painting has been nature itself, particularly water."
